Our Smart Kid - Blogging About Our Smart Kid

We have decided to write a blog about our smart kid, and document and highlight things about him that are of interest or that come to mind.  It's not often as parents that we get to document everything that our children do, or tell our kids about them.  We're always being told as well that we have a smart child on our hands, so we decided to make this blog to document not only for us to remember down the line, but for our child to reflect back on and see his own progression, and why we, and many others call him a smart kid.  You're welcome to join us as we write about our son, and should another child come into our lives, as we add on another smart kid to the blog as well!  Enjoy!

Reading To Your Baby Feeds Them Knowledge and Imagination

Isaiah readingIt's funny when we think of how fast Isaiah is growing up, and how reading to your baby can help improve their knowledge fast!  The educated soul within him was yearning and desiring to come out more and more.  He always had an interest in books it seemed, and he continues to show more and more interest in a variety of different books.  I guess the more we read to him, the more he was entertained, and the more he enjoyed books.  How about your little one?  Find yourself reading ...

Isaiah Making Beats??

Isaiah Making BeatsIsaiah is too funny sometimes, and that's why we enjoy him so much and are Blessed to have him in our lives.  I guess he decided to take it upon himself to imitate me.  We glanced at him and here he was, doing what he tends to see me do at times.  He loves to imitate and copycat (sometimes funny, sometimes it's not something we want him copying, lol).  I guess he wanted to have a session of his own and so here he was, imitating me at work!

Wooden Puzzles for Toddlers - Are They Really Helpful?

Some of you may have stumbled on the wooden puzzles for toddlers that some of the stores like Walmart or Target carry.  Some parents may look at them and bypass them altogether, feeling like they're a waste.  Other parents may feel the need to buy their child every last wooden puzzle known to man just for the sake of spoiling their baby.  With more and more of them being made, you sorta have to ask yourself if these wooden puzzles for toddlers are really helpful, or another gimmick.

Okay, ...

I Decided on Breastfeeding My Baby

I Decided on Breastfeeding My Baby

When I found out I was pregnant, one of the things I researched was breastfeeding. I have several friends who told me they opted not to do it because of what they feared it would do to their breasts. But I had also heard that there were plenty of benefits to the baby as well as to the mother AND the father.

Benefits to Baby

Through all my research, the thing that stood out the most was the fact that breastfed babies are much healthier that bottle-fed babies. ...

Teaching Through Songs Has Helped Isaiah Learn Fast!

Teaching through songs has been something that we had heard in the past to be effective, but no one really puts much thought into it at all.  More people are focused on teaching their child the way a teacher would probably do so, or, as more parents seem to do, let their toddlers be a toddler early on.  But is there a harm for trying to teach your toddler things early on?  Will your toddler really miss out on his or her youth by learning early?

The answer as ...

Who Knew Picking a Preschool Would Be So Hard?

Well, I decided it is time for Mr. Isaiah to go to Preschool so that he can have a social life of his own.A few months ago, he started acting out pretty bad. I guess this is what they call terrible two’s. He was throwing Tantrums for no reason at all and it was driving us crazy. I got to thinking that maybe he is just bored and really wants to start living a life of his own. So I started looking for a preschool.

This was not ...

Hooked On Phonics Works For Zay

Isaiah started watching Hooked on Phonics roughly a year ago when he turned one. One day on YouTube, I stumbled across "The Letter B” song. I instantly fell in love. Isaiah was nearby, so I showed him the video and he fell in love right away! The big smile on his face said it all. When the song finished he demanded "again!”, so I played it again and again and again. It wasn’t long before he started singing along. I was lucky enough to get him on video, as you can ...

Growing Up Too Fast - Where Does The Time Fly?

Sometimes, I sit back and tell myself the very thing that our parents would say... our child is growing up too fast.  I'm sure you've probably heard that before from your parents, haven't you?  Well, I can definitely say that I see what they meant when they said it about us.  The time really does seem to fly before your eyes, and before you know it, you'll be saying your child is growing up too fast as well!  Maybe things just accelerate the older we get... I'm not really sure.  ...

The Reason Behind This Blog - Our Smart Kid

Our Smart KidWell, OurSmartKid.com wouldn't even be a reality now if it wasn't for our little man, Isaiah.  After all, he was, by inspiration, the driving force for getting this blog up and running.  Isaiah, we pray that you get to see and enjoy this blog when you get older and are able to read it... though at this point, you're already showing us that you're wanting to learn how to read and you just turned two years old not even a month ago!  Lol!

Of course, this blog will be ...
